A Draper meeting in progress: the orb, Draper's line, the beat ticks, and the page forming blurred behind it

01Problem

Most landing pages aren't specific enough.

You can get something pretty online in an afternoon with any website builder, and it still doesn't sell. Most landing pages fail by being too shallow and not specific enough. Nobody ever said who it's for or why anyone should believe it.

02Idea

So you just talk to Draper, and the page builds while you talk.

You start a meeting and Draper opens with "Hey, what should I help you with?" You should really feel like you're talking to a superintelligence. After your first answer, something starts forming on screen behind it.

  1. 1LobbyYou sit down and Draper speaks first.
  2. 2MeetingYou tell your story, and the page shows up blurred behind the conversation.
  3. 3RevealOnce every part of the story holds up, you see the whole page.

03Features

Draper pushes back when you're vague.

It's the expert, like Don Draper - it calls you out when you don't have enough clarity. If you say your product is for everyone or that customers love it, Draper asks who exactly and how you know.

Say you make restaurant software. Draper wants to know if you're selling to chefs or to restaurant owners who might have several restaurants, because those are completely different personas. A founder who's already clear doesn't get nagged.

03Features

You only see the whole page once you've earned it.

The page sharpens as your answers get better, and a row of nine ticks shows how far you are. It only fully appears when every beat is earned, and that check lives in code, so you can't talk Draper into an early reveal. If you want a change afterwards, you go back into the meeting and argue for it.

The way it builds should look a bit more magical though, as if the page would be breathing, coming together with every second that passes.

Everything that's shipped so far is in the changelog, and every entry is at the bottom of this page too.

04How it works

The voice only talks. The page gets built behind it.

Draper's voice is an ElevenLabs agent that only talks. A separate note-taker listens to each answer and keeps track of your story, and the builder turns it into the page, so a reply never waits on the page. On trydraper.si (opens in a new tab) you can watch a demo meeting right now - real voice comes once I've decided who gets to talk to it.

How I keep it fast and honest

Speed is basically the product, so I measure it. I time how long Draper takes to answer and how long until the page changes, and it's still not as snappy as I want. When something takes a few seconds, I want Draper to just say so and ask the next question.

Testing with real voice costs credits, and I didn't have enough, but we can simulate conversations with text anyways. So I test the interview in plain text against simulated founders, once vague and once clear. That's how I found it was sending people away without a page.

The first pages it built did not look good, honestly. Right now a page is a typed spec rendered by my own components, which makes it easy to check, and I want each one to get its own components written from scratch.

Accounts and putting the page on your own domain come later.

Changelog

  • The page behind the meeting grows now

The page behind the meeting used to jump in, whole blocks at a time, behind a blur. Now each piece fades in over a few seconds and the layer keeps slowly breathing between beats, so it feels like it's coming together while you talk. It's still the template behind there for now, and I haven't tuned it by hand yet.

  • The demo page starts forming right after the first answer

In the Draper demo the page used to stay empty for about 21 seconds, so it really felt like nothing was happening. Now the first shape shows up behind the conversation as the founder stops talking, about 7 seconds in. It's still faint at that point, just a logo and a blurred panel, but you can see something coming.

  • Draper's page shows through sooner

During the meeting, the page Draper is building now shows clearly behind the conversation and sharpens with every beat you earn, instead of staying a pale blur until the reveal.

  • Draper's page starts showing up sooner

The page behind the meeting now shows its first section after the very first thing you tell Draper, and the other sections are written side by side instead of one after another. In my text bench the first shape dropped from about ten seconds to four. It's still not fast enough, so that's next.

  • A refresh doesn't lose the meeting anymore

If you reload the tab halfway through a meeting with Draper, it picks up where you left off - the beats you earned are still there. And a page that's already revealed stays revealed after a reload.

  • Draper's pages look designed now

The pages Draper builds looked like wireframes, honestly. Now every section shares one look built from the brand colour - a proper hero, side-by-side problem and objection, a big quote, a coloured call to action. I pulled one card from React Bits with a soft light that follows your cursor. Real images are still a placeholder.

  • Draper stops asking twice

Draper used to ask its question, pause, and then ask it again, as if you'd wandered off. Now it only talks, and a separate note-taker listens in the background and keeps track of your story. In my text tests, every founder now reaches their page, and Draper's replies are shorter.

  • Draper's demo meeting opens with the real agent's first line

The demo meeting started with its own line, different from what the voice agent says. Now it reads the same first message, so the demo and the real thing can't drift apart.

  • Draper lets you finish the meeting

I now test Draper's interview in plain text against simulated founders before any voice is involved. That showed it was sending people away without a page, so Draper now accepts a concrete, honest answer, keeps its replies short and stops saying it's taking notes. In the text tests, twice as many founders now reach their page.

  • Draper is on trydraper.si

Draper finally has its own address - trydraper.si. For now it runs the scripted demo meeting, not real voice, since I still have to decide who gets to talk to it. But it's up, and every merge goes live on its own.

  • Draper starts the conversation now

Draper used to just sit there until you said something. Now it opens with "Hey, what should I help you with?" and tells you the page builds behind it while you talk. It also answers first and takes its notes after, so the gap after you finish speaking is about a second shorter in my tests - still not as snappy as I want, honestly.

  • Draper's lobby is readable again

The glow behind the lobby was painting over the heading and the start button, so you basically couldn't read the first screen. It sits behind the text now.

  • The Draper meeting fills the whole screen now

The meeting opens as one big full-screen visual instead of just the orb. When you talk, blue waves run across the screen with your voice, and when Draper talks, warm ripples come out of the orb. It feels a lot more alive, honestly.

  • Draper's first meeting room

Draper has a home now. You sit down for a meeting with a pushy interviewer who doesn't let you through until your story actually holds up, and the landing page builds in the background and only gets revealed once you've earned it. Right now it's a demo meeting with draft copy - the real voice agent comes next.
